This ongoing group reads and discusses
the poetry of the Psalms in English,
exploring how we might connect to it personally.
The Psalms articulate a range of human emotions
that we may experience at one time or another,
including lament and gratitude,
praise for God’s goodness or pleas for help and salvation.
Classes meet 10 Monday morning, 10:00 - 11:00 AM

WEDNESDAYS
The Books of Tobit and Ben Sira
Ben Sira and Tobit, written by proto-Jews
in the Second Temple Period,
were highly regarded for centuries
as part of Jewish literary and cultural tradition,
but were not included in the Hebrew Bible.
Ben Sira offers nuggets of advice, mostly in the form of proverbs.

Tobit's devotion to prayer and Torah values
would have made him appealing to Jews
who had one foot in Jewish life and the other in Hellenistic society.

We will read and discuss selections of these works in English.
Classes will meet 10 Wednesday mornings 10:00 - 11:30 AM,

March 15, 22, 29, April 19, 26, May 3, 10, 17, 24, & 31
Students will need a copy of
the Jewish Annotated Apocrypha by Jonathan Klawans.
No previous knowledge needed.
 Tuition: $400.*
